Sheffield designer Elizabeth A Edwards, a graduate of London's prestigious St. Martin's School of Art, served her apprenticeship under the watchful eye of the late Jean Muir, where her designs were shown on the catwalk during London Fashion Week. She then progressed to work with some of the country's most established names, including Betty Jackson, Catherine Walker and Mulberry, where she dressed many celebrities including Jennifer Saunders, Victoria Wood, Marianne Faithfull, Joanna Lumley and Adrian Edmonson. Her designs have been seen on the UK High Street in stores such as Zara, H&M, Etam and BHS, and in boutiques across Europe and the United States. In 2005 she worked directly with Twiggy to develop a range of clothing for mail order giant Great Universal.

In 2003, at a time when “eco-friendly clothing” was in its infancy, Elizabeth was commissioned to design the pioneering EthicallyMe range: stylish clothes, ethically made & produced fairly.

Five years later she launched her own collection with similar values. Her eco-couture label, then known as 'Hope&Glory', was officially launched on 30 July 2008 at The Walnut Club Champagne Bar, Ecclesall Road, and was also showcased on the catwalk at the Great Yorkshire Show and at Sheffield's Botanical Gardens during their annual “Art in the Gardens” event in 2008, 2009 and 2010. These fashion shows have raised in excess of £2,500 for PACT – the Parents' Association of Children with Tumours and Leukaemia, which is based at the Children’s Hospital in Sheffield.

In June 2010 Elizabeth decided to re-brand her collection keeping the distinctive handwriting, but splitting the range into three labels:

  • Hope’ gives new life to old, offering a range of unique, hand-crafted and re-worked designs, using recycled, vintage, Fairtrade and rescued garments,
  • Glory’ uses glorious vintage, organic, and locally-sourced fabrics in a range of individually designed and beautifully constructed pieces,
  • Elizabeth A Edwards Couture’ is a top end designer label offering exclusive made to measure and bespoke garments made from exquisite locally-sourced and organic cloths.

You can make an appointment to view and try the clothes in the comfort of Elizabeth’s private studio, conveniently located close to Sheffield’s buzzing Ecclesall Road. Or why not host a Ladies’ Night for a fun evening out with friends? Or if you prefer, any garment from the range can be purchased online. For more information
